Online photo submission
Welcome to the FIU One Card Photo submission instructional website. Uploading your approved photo online is the only way to ensure your ID will be printed and ready for pick up during your orientation. The “submit my photo” button at the bottom of this page, you will be directed to the One Card data base.
How to correctly upload your photo.
Submitting a picture is easy and will save you time when you come to campus. The steps below will help teach you how to take and upload a picture that will be approved for your FIU One Card.
Please remember that your University Identification Card is an acceptable form of identification for many off campus local and government purposes and as such there are strict guidelines we must follow to ensure your picture is acceptable for use. Submitting an unacceptable picture will add time and additional steps to your already busy schedule as a current or future FIU student. Please read carefully and follow the instructions below.

Identify the camera you will use
Any digital camera will do as long as it takes clear crisp photographs. The camera on your phone or tablet will work great.
Taking the perfect picture
Take your picture in good lighting with a white backdrop. See below examples of acceptable and non-acceptable photos.
Follow the guidelines below for selecting a well composed photograph to submit:
The background of your photo must be white and completely free of any items, furniture, artwork, etc.
Centered & Forward facing
Make sure to position yourself in the center of the image. You must also be completely facing forward.
Free of accessories
Photos cannot include accessories such as sun glasses or hats.
Photos must include head and top of the shoulders in frame
Take a picture of a government issued ID
You will also need to scan or take a picture of driver’s license, passport or other government issued ID. Be sure the picture is taken in good lighting and the information on the ID is legible. Only JPG files can be uploaded.
Your photo must be:
- Current and of good quality (i.e. adequate lighting, non-pixelated and focus).
- Photo is clear and in color, reproduces skin tones accurately and is properly exposed with no shadows.
- Taken with white, uniform, and plain background.
- Free of accessories and/or objects (prescription glasses are acceptable if eyes are clearly visible).
- Cropped appropriately where patron head is centered in frame, facing forward, and sized correctly.
- Patron has a neutral expression/natural smile.
- Submitted at least 3 business days prior to planned issuance on campus. Please allow up to 3 business days for the FIU One Card office to email you confirmation after you have submitted your photo.
Step-by-step guide to submitting your FIU One Card photo online:
1. Review your pictures
Compare it with the 4 pictures on this page. Does it look like the acceptable pictures? If you have any doubt, take it again, submitting an unacceptable picture will lead to having to start the whole process over.
2. Visit photo submission page
You are now ready to upload. Click the “submit my photo” button at the bottom of these steps. Make sure you read all the steps first to ensure you have everything you need.
3. Login using your FIU credentials
After clicking the “submit my photo” button at the bottom of this page, you will be directed to the One Card data base. You will need to authenticate using your Panther ID and password.
4. Upload your photos
If you are using a mobile device (phone or tablet), click on the icon titled “ID Photo”
If you are using a laptop or desktop computer, click on “Submit ID Photo” on the left-hand menu.
Only JPG files can be uploaded
5. Await approval
Give us 3 business days to review your photo submission. You will receive an e-mail with instructions to pick up your card (if approved) or to re-submit your photo (if rejected).
6. Ready for pick up
We will print your FIU One Card and have it ready for you when you come to campus.If you are signed up for an upcoming orientation, you will need to wait to pick up your card at the designated date, time and location for the event or come to our office once you are registered for classes
You must present a physical government issued photo ID to claim your card.
